Phoenix, Atlanta, District of Columbia, Alexandria, Madison, Savannah, Geneva, Baltimore, Albuquerque, Chandler

That's a long list of cities! I was in 7 of those in the last 6 days but more importantly the other 3 are my sweet, adorable nieces! Last Wednesday my friend, Jenn, and I hopped on a plane and flew to Washington D.C. (well, Atlanta then D.C.) We saw a beautiful sunset from the plane somewhere over Texas!

My mom was anxious to know when I landed so I sent her this pic from baggage claim.

Then she wanted to see my sister and I enjoying one another. So here we are!

I got in very late Wednesday evening and this is what I woke up to Thursday morning. It was gorgeous and freezing...no literally, it was below freezing...about 27 degrees.

This is Geneva. She is 5 months old and this was the first time I met her! I was in love instantly!

I forgot how wonderful it is when your kids still have nap time. This was my relaxing afternoon drinking coffee, reading and relaxing.

Geneva is really the happiest baby I have ever met!

  • Madison made this picture for me and hung it on my door. I love how she spelled "Melissu"

When Maddie was at school Savannah and I had a tea party with Cupcake Rainbow and Baby Cinderella.

This is the view out my sisters back window. I couldn't stop taking pictures!

I took this because I think this may have been the only time I actually saw her sitting down! She is such a great mom!

On Friday evening my sister & I met my friend Jenn, her friend, and a few other ladies for dinner.

The next day Jesse took us to visit the Pentagon Memorial.

It was a very sobering experience. Each bench represents a person killed in the attack on September 11th. If the bench faced the Pentagon that means they were in the airplane and if the bench faced away from the Pentagon it meant they were in the Pentagon when the plane hit. They were grouped by age. The youngest killed was a little girl that was 3 years old. It was a sobering experience.

After, we drove along the Potomac River for a beautiful view!

I couldn't get enough of this girl!

I was supposed to fly home on Monday. But Monday morning we woke up to a snowstorm, freezing temps and a lot of cancelled flights.

My brother in law tried to take Jenn and I to the airport in hopes of getting on a plane. On the way there we stopped in the middle of a usually very busy intersection to take a picture of him doing a snow angel in the middle of the road.

After the car got stuck on ice and we drove through some very slick and slushy roads we discovered that our flights were cancelled. So I went back to my sisters and Jenn went back to her friends house. Once we rescheduled our flights we were unable to get on the same one. I ended up flying out of Baltimore!

But I really didn't mind because that meant I got to spend more time with these lovely girls!
We read books.

 Scrap booked.

Drank hot chocolate & coffee.

Played lots of card games...Geneva helped with Uno.

So did Savannah!

The bigger girls went and played in the snow. I did not.

And I wore my coat inside a lot of the time!

I wouldn't even go outside to take a picture!

That night we had milkshakes and baby snuggles. And I enjoyed every single minute of it!

Cute little heart melted into the snow.

Finally, on Tuesday I had a flight out so my sister, her husband and all 3 of their kids piled into the van and drove me an hour away to catch my plane home.

I had such a wonderful time with my sister and her family. I think I shall make this a yearly tradition. Although, next time maybe I won't go in the Winter.

I was so very glad to be home and to see my own sweet girls. They were sound asleep when I walked it but I gave them all kisses anyway!

2014

This past January we celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary! It's hard to believe it's been that long!
We were all very sick for a few weeks at the beginning on January.

Thankfully everyone was feeling much better by the time Emma's birthday rolled around. She turned 7!
We had a small family party with Uncle Marcus & Aunt McKenna...and lots of presents!

I love that Emma is getting old enough to dress herself!

A week or so after Emma's birthday the girls got a huge surprise...a puppy! We drove out to Coolidge, AZ to pick her up.
She is so sweet and slept in between the girls for the whole drive home.

We officially named her California Jager James! (Jager is hunter in German...she is a German Short-haired Pointer and destined to be Ben's hunting dog!)

It didn't take long for Cali to work her way into our hearts...
 and our laps...
 and my bed...

and apparently my new couch as well.
 The girls absolutely love her!

One evening I enjoyed taking Charis and one of her good friends to see the Wizard of Oz live on stage at the Gammage.
As cute as Cali is, she can be a little naughty.
 Me and my sweet girls.
Daddy & Cali taking a snooze.
The weather has been so beautiful here that we decided to perk up the front yard and plant a few flowers.
