Panna Cotta

On Christmas night I made panna cotta for dessert. I got the recipe from my friend Karen's blog. I highly recommend checking her blog and trying some of the recipes on there! As you can probably tell from the video Emma really liked it!

Emma helped wash the potatoes for dinner on Christmas night.

Oh, Precious Jesus

Here's a little video from Christmas time. Emma is singing, "Oh, precious Jesus."

Ben is currently studying for his GMAT (graduate management admissions test) so yesterday we were at Barnes & Noble to buy yet another study guide for this test. As Ben was deciding which book to choose Charis pointed to one and said, "Maybe you should have just gotten this one." Ben's response, "Thanks Charis." My response, nothing...I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard. Which book did she choose you ask? GMAT for Dummies.

Happy Birthday Emma!

Emma's birthday was 2 weeks ago and I'm just getting to posting her pictures! Sorry about that. Anyway, we had a little party at a park near our house. Well, it wasn't such a little party. All of our friends keeping having so many kids! Basically the kids just played the whole time.

Then we had some pizza.
I love all the dads faces in this picture!

It was so windy.
Mmmm...cupcakes!
and presents!
Emma had quite a bit of help opening the gifts. Thankfully she didn't get mad about it. I could see she was getting a little frustrated but she did a good job of controlling herself. That's a big step for her!
One last little bit of getting dirty before it's time to leave!

Recent Funnies

Charis: "Let's lock Emma upstairs with a candy cane."
Charis: "Mommy, I love you more than myself."
Charis: "Somebody at school has a boyfriend. I think that's silly. She's not even old enough to get married!"
Emma: (While watching a video of John Piper) "Papa! Papa! Papa!"
Charis: (After Uncle Mike & Aunt Kathleen's wedding) "So do Uncle Mike & Aunt Kathleen get to stay in the same hotel room tonight?"

Christmas and such

The weekend before Christmas our friends, the Cassadays, graciously took us up to their cabin so we could enjoy the snow. The little kids drove up with Heidi & I while Charis drove with my parents. The husbands & Chloe drove up later after work. Snow!
Chloe wasn't a big fan of the snow.
Charis was!
This little miss didn't love it either. I think she's more of a warm weather person.
Can you see her face up close? Yeah, not a big fan.
Snow angels!
Mimi took Noah on a little sledding run.

Here's all of us freezing our buns off. We're so not used to cold weather!
One night at the cabin we made s'mores. I love Emma's face in this picture!

We also went off-roading! This was so fun! Charis rode with Ben (so they went really fast & crazy) and Emma rose with me (but she refused to wear a helmet so we went pretty slow.

This is how Chloe & Emma rose most of the way home. Poor Chloe!
Christmas morning.
According to Emma here's a picture of, "Asis sis & Memma."
Charis was so excited about this present. She's been asking for a "groom" for so long. Finally, her Barbies can get married! Thank you Aunt Dottie!

Papa, as always, bought Mimi some beautiful clothes!
Aunt Dottie bought Emma a new game. It will help her learn her colors. And on the floor is a brand new box of 48 crayons which Emma tirelessly emptied each one by one.
Both girls got another gift from Grandma. Emma received a gymnastics Barbie and Charis received a ballet Barbie because Grandma is going to pay for them both of have ballet & gymnastics lessons.
Emma loves her doctor kit from Aunt Jennifer. She set right to examining her new ironing board from Grandma.
Emma also helped make Christmas dinner. She washed the potatoes so well, I've never seen potatoes so clean!
One night we went to McCormick-Stillman to ride the Christmas train.

During the daytime, when it wasn't quite so freezing, Mimi & Papa would take the girls for walks.
And one day we went to DeFalco's for lunch. If you're ever craving a calzone, that's the place to go!
Most of the time the girls just enjoyed having Mimi & Papa around to play with. Do you think Papa's enjoying right now? Thank you Mimi & Papa for coming to visit!

It's Snowing

One morning in December Ben took the girls for a walk around the neighborhood. Shortly after he left he called me on my cell phone and said, "You better come here quickly and bring something to sled on." I was completely confused but went and did bring a few things to sled on. Apparently one of our neighbors had driven to the snow and brought a truck load of it back with them. The kids had a blast. This was the first time they had ever seen snow!
